Course Title: Apologetics 1

Credit Hours: 3 Semester Hours
Course Description
This course introduces students to Christian apologetics—the defense of the Christian faith. Using R.C. Sproul’s Reason to Believe, students will explore the rational, biblical, and theological foundations of Christianity, engaging objections and learning to articulate a clear defense of truth. Through lectures, assignments, and examinations, students will grow in both confidence and skill in presenting the gospel in a skeptical world.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Define apologetics and its biblical mandate.
- Identify and respond to common objections to the Christian faith.
- Understand and explain key arguments for the existence of God and the authority of Scripture.
- Develop skill in communicating the truth of Christianity with clarity and conviction.
- Integrate apologetic principles into evangelism and discipleship.
Course Requirements
- Textbook Reading: Students are required to read each assigned chapter of Reason to Believe before the corresponding lecture.
- Lectures: 10 class lectures (one per chapter).
- Assignments: 9 written assignments designed to reinforce learning and application.
- Tests: 10 chapter tests (one per chapter).
- Final Exam: Comprehensive exam covering the entire course.
